Des Moines Hip Pain Doctor & Physical Therapy – A Non-Surgical Option

Is your hip pain hereditary? Did it develop due to your lifestyle and activities or did your hip pain develop from a sudden sports injury or traumatic event?

Not sure if you need to see a Doctor? Try these at-home tips, if they don’t provide relief, make an appointment today!

  • Hot or Cold packs: Try ice or heat treatments. Place a bag of ice cubes or even frozen vegetables in a towel to protect your skin. Apply the cold pack to your hip and replenish as needed. You might want to try a warm bath or shower before stretching or exercises to reduce pain and discomfort.
  • OTC Pain Relievers. Aleve, Motrin, Tylenol and Advil are all good options to provide relief of hip pain.
  • Resting the affected area might be all that you need! Try not to sleep on the side that hurts and avoid sitting for too long. Be sure to take note of when your pain intensifies during these light activities to assist your doctor in an accurate diagnosis.
  • Stretching and light exercise might provide some needed relief. If you experience pain you should stop immediately and have yourself be seen by a doctor. Here are some hip stretches you can try!
